Recipe for Louis Moskow's Santa Fe Farmers Market Chile Cook-Off Soup

Etaste member Patricia Brown asked if we could get the recipe for the curried dish chef/owner Louis Moskow of The Railyard Restaurant & Saloon served at the Santa Fe Farmers Market Chile Cook-Off a few weeks ago. When we reached him, Louis was heading off to the France on vacation. He said he would put together a recipe when he returned and he kept his word. He did say that part of what made the concoction so delicious was fresh-from-the-market ingredients — garlic, onions, carrots, pepper,… Continue

BRING ON THE HOMEGROWN ...

I ate a tomato this morning.
It was big and round and red and raw.
And I was not the least bit afraid of contracting salmonella saintpaul or E. coli or any of the other potentially deadly bacteria infesting our food supply these days.
Not because I am foolhardy — or stupid — enough to ignore the recent warnings from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Food and Drug Administration.
But because this tomato was grown right here in the City Different, in a tiny plot behind a downtown restaurant… Continue

ONE DAY AT A TIME, I CHOSE TO BECOME FAT

I am fat by choice.
It has taken me a long time to realize this.
I have chosen my obesity indirectly, one bite at a time. I chose it when I drank regular Coca-Cola instead of water. Or got drive-thru Burger King because I was tired and didn’t feel like cooking. Or ate a whole candy bar when one bite would have been enough.
I didn’t make choices like this once or even 10 times. I made them every day of every week of every year. The sum total of all these tiny choices has added up to me bei… Continue

BEYOND TAKEOUT: Cooking while other people are watching/Tantri Wija

Summer means picnics. It begins with Memorial Day, goes onto Father's Day, segues into the Fourth of July, and ends with a series of desperate August "make the most of the summer while it's here" barbecues.

Which means potlucks are here. Which means you will, at some point, be forced to bring a dish to someone else's house — a dish everyone else will judge.

Potluck: (def.) an assortment of food that doesn't go together, assembled by a combination of people who all, apparently, had excess amoun… Continue

Hi Henry,

Thanks for the welcome. I already have another account on Ning, so it was really easy to join. This is an awesome social networking site.

One thing you might want to put up are some CSS codes for people who are unfamiliar with how to post on sites like this. (For some reason Ning works better with CSS codes than HTML codes). I think the most common ones that are used on my other network are bold, italics, strikethrough, blockquote, and live url links in the posts.

Good luck with the new site!
